During the playoffs: news from Darnell Nurse, Tristan Jarry

Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse received a one-game suspension from the NHL Department of Player Safety for headbutting Phillip Danault.

In the second period of Game 5 on Tuesday night, Nurse stepped forward and headbutted Danault square in the chin, as the Quebecer was at the net on a Mike Smith save.

The security department also announced that attacker Zack Kassian received a maximum fine of $5,000 for collating with Sean Durzi.

The Kings eventually won the game 5-4 in overtime to take a 3-2 series lead and put Edmonton on the brink.

Danault is having a terrific playoff series with five points in as many games. In particular, he scored three goals.

The sixth meeting of this series will take place on Thursday in Los Angeles.

Jarry is making good progress.

At Penguins camp, head coach Mike Sullivan had some good news Wednesday. Goalkeeper Tristan Jarry has made a lot of progress of late and took part in his longest training session since the start of his rehab on Wednesday.

His case is still being evaluated daily. The same goes for striker Rickard Rakell, whose condition is also assessed daily.

He suffered an upper body injury in Game 1 of the series after taking a hit from Ryan Lindgren.

Jarry has not seen action since April 14.

Cassidy trusts Swayman

Bruce Cassidy still has faith in goalie Jeremy Swayman and confirmed he will be in goal for the third straight game on Thursday against the Hurricanes.

He also said defender Hampus Lindholm is likely to return to action on Thursday.

He was hit hard by Andrei Svechnikov in a 5-2 loss in Game 2. This season he has five goals and 27 points in 71 games. He had not accumulated a point in the playoffs.

Cassidy said either Matt Grzelcyk or Mike Reilly will step down.

uncertain market

Florida Panthers forward Mason Marchment is a doubt for Game 5 of the series against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday night.

Panthers head coach Andrew Brunette said a decision will be made before the game.

Bored by an injury, Marchment did not practice with his team on Wednesday.

The series is tied 2-2.
